Peikko Group to establish new unit in Athens, Greece
Peikko Group’s parent company, Peikko Finland Oy, has decided to establish a new sales and engineering support team in Athens, Greece. The unit of “Peikko Greece A.E.” will focus on sales and technical service to engineering companies, precasters and construction companies in Greece. The services will also include warehousing of standard items during 2009. Key recruitments have been made and the company is expected to be operative 1st January 2009.
Greece as a construction market has become very modern by European standards and the country with eleven million citizens offers good potential for Peikko’s innovative solutions. Peikko’s entry into the market is also supported by the implementation of eurocodes by 2010 and the increasing share of precast used in the market.

Peikko Group had an extensive R&D project together with Eucentre for Seismic Studies, Pavia, Italy during 2007-2008. The outcome of the project was that Peikko’s column connections are now successfully proven to function safely under seismic conditions.
