Hollow-core floor openings easily without propping
In assembly of hollow-core slabs, the fast assembly work stops when an opening needs to be made.
The conventional method is to arrange propping underneath the necessary opening in order to support the slab from the lower level and to keep the free end in place. The final structure is created by molding, reinforcing, and casting a concrete beam. Finishing the opening takes several days. There has to be an easier and faster way of making the openings!
With Peikko, using a PETRA slab hanger as a trimmer beam eliminates the need for propping. First, the adjacent supported full-length slabs are installed. The PETRA slab hanger is placed between them, and finally the shorter slab is installed supported on the PETRA slab hanger.
How does the Peikko solution work?
PETRA Slab Hanger is a plate structure that creates the support for the shorter slabs in the opening from the adjacent slabs. The opening made with PETRA Slab Hanger also needs concreting, but it is made when the hollow-core joints of the floor are cast. All PETRA slab hangers are fire-resistant, because the rebar welded into PETRA enables it to function as a concrete beam.
PETRA transforms into multiple width, height, load, and support arrangements. It is designed to fit most hollow-core slabs on the market, and its resistance values are approved according to Eurocode. Let us help you make hollow-core floor openings easily without propping!
