The construction industry is at a turning point. Carbon regulations are tightening, material costs are shifting, and the pressure to build smarter—with less—has never been greater.
Every month, Building with Less brings you:
- In-depth insights on the topics shaping sustainable construction—from CBAM to circular economy regulations
- Solution spotlights—how structural innovations like reusable steel frames are making lower-carbon buildings a reality today
- Project highlights—real buildings, real results, real sustainability impact
- What Peikko is doing—events, research, and initiatives driving the industry forward
Our first issue is out now. Here, we take a look at Keilaniemen Portti—set to become one of Europe’s tallest timber-based office buildings—and review recent key events on Peikko’s path toward sustainability.
If you work in construction, design, architecture, or investment, this newsletter is for you.

Project highlight: Keilaniemen portti, FINLAND
Hybrid structures enabling taller timber buildings
As cities look for ways to reduce the carbon footprint of construction, hybrid timber buildings are gaining momentum. By combining timber with steel and concrete, designers can take advantage of the strengths of each material while enabling more sustainable structural solutions.
The Keilaniemen Portti project in Espoo, Finland, demonstrates this approach in practice. Rising to around 60 meters with 15 floors, the building will become one of Europe’s tallest timber-based office buildings when completed. The project highlights how hybrid structural systems can support ambitious sustainability goals while enabling efficient high-rise construction.
Peikko’s environmentally conscious DELTABEAM® Green Composite Beams and steel structures play an important role in the building’s hybrid frame, helping integrate timber elements with concrete slabs and other structural components.
Projects like Keilaniemen Portti show how hybrid structural design is helping expand the possibilities of sustainable high-rise construction.

Peikko continues its commitment to circular construction with key European events in spring 2026. Come meet us online or live in different locations in Europe!
Peikko continues to advance circular economy practices in the construction sector by organizing and participating in several high-profile sustainability events across Europe throughout spring 2026.
Held from March 24–26, 2026, Peikko participated in REBUILD 2026, the leading construction innovation event in Madrid, Spain, focusing on sustainability, digitalization, and industrialization. During the event, Peikko’s Keilaniemen Portti project won the Advanced Architecture Award 2026 in the Industrialized Construction/Offsite and Modular Construction category. The project shows what is possible when architects, engineers, and investors engage early—even with highly challenging geometries, it is possible to deliver ambitious design within an industrialized construction framework, combining CLT and hybrid structural solutions in high-rise timber construction.
On April 29, 2026, Peikko will host a UK Sustainability Webinar as part of its well-established Construction Goes Circular ® webinar series. Taking place at 11:00 CET, the webinar will focus on advancing circular economy practices within the UK construction sector. Under the theme “Pathfinding: A Unique Approach to Meet New Net Zero Building Standards in the UK,” the session will bring together industry professionals to share insights, experiences, and practical solutions supporting the transition toward net-zero buildings. Make sure to sign up
Are you going to LOOP Forum? Peikko will participate in the LOOP Forum on April 28–29, 2026 in Copenhagen, Denmark, together with Business Helsinki and other circular economy companies. LOOP provides an important platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and showcasing innovative approaches that support more sustainable built environments.
The event brings together inspiration from leading experts, public authorities, corporates, and startups driving the circular transition, offering valuable insights, networking opportunities, cutting-edge solutions, and innovative circular business models. LOOP addresses a wide range of timely themes across industries and value chains, including sustainable plastic packaging, recycling of construction materials, and evolving regulations shaping the circular economy. Come visit us at the stand!
Peikko will also organize the Construction Goes Circular ® event in Arnhem, the Netherlands, on May 20, 2026. The one-day conference will feature inspiring presentations on circularity and sustainability topics within the construction sector: shaping the future of circular construction, while exploring real-world solutions, best practices, and practical applications. Join us there!
Through these activities, Peikko continues to actively promote circular economy principles, strengthen industry collaboration, and deliver practical sustainability solutions across European construction markets. We look forward to insightful discussions with you!
What’s coming up next?
In our next issue, we will take a look at Sustainability Reporting—many companies worldwide are being required to report on it, yet it is entirely new to them. We’ll give you a sneak peek at how this is being done at Peikko and share some practical tips.
