Peikko's BOLDA® Bolted Column Shoe has won an innovation award in the large companies category of the Excellence Finland's Quality Innovation Award competition. The competition, which is arranged annually by Excellence Finland, aims to promote the competitiveness of Finnish companies through innovations.
The competition’s assessment criteria are, among other things, novelty value, combination of productivity and quality, and customer orientation. Having won its series in Finland, the BOLDA® Bolted Column Shoe is also participating in an international innovation competition.
BOLDA® is a lighter, more compact, and better-performing bolted column shoe designed for future precast construction. It allows the use of 24% smaller column cross-sections while, at the same time, reducing the amount of materials and increasing the building's useful operating space and surface area. The benefits come in the form of 27% lighter shoe weights, 30% lower CO2 emissions, and lower construction and life-cycle costs. BOLDA® Column Shoe is the only ETA assessed bolted connection for high loads in the world, and it also has a CE mark.
