Sustainability is a strategic advantage, creates long-term value for stakeholders, and can help drive growth through innovative solutions. Sustainability and progress around the actions need to be measured with targets and quantitative and qualitative data.
At the beginning of 2025, we finalized a thorough analysis and identified the most material topics intricately linked to the nature of Peikko’s business, areas where we can have the biggest impact on people, the planet, and society, and vice versa. Peikko’s sustainability targets are related to managing material negative impacts, advancing positive impacts, and managing material risks and opportunities. These targets are connected to our own operations and the value chain, covering several aspects, and they also support our customers in their efforts to decrease CO2 emissions.
The material topics most important to Peikko include Climate Change mitigation and adaptation, Resource Use and Circular Economy in terms of waste reduction, optimizing material resource use and driving circular solutions, supporting the diversity of our Own Workforce and assuring ESG (environmental, social and governance) compliance in Business Conduct.
Why are we updating our sustainability targets? We are establishing new sustainability targets because we have more precise information on the most material environmental, social, and governance Peikko topics, and to be more in line with EU Climate work and upcoming legal reporting requirements. The new sustainability targets are linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, also known as SDGs, and complete Peikko’s previous goals.
