In Porcari, Italy, a major paper mill expansion required anchoring solutions that could withstand vibration, meet complex design requirements, and perform reliably over the long term.
Peikko provided customized WELDA® Anchor Plates and hands-on engineering support from the early stages of the project. More than 13 tonnes of plates were designed, with dimensions and materials tailored to support transportation, installation, and integration into shallow, heavily reinforced structures.

Customized WELDA® solutions
“I was so impressed by the amount of WELDA® Anchor Plates in one single project that I immediately recognized this could have been a record!” says Elena Camnasio, Customer Engineer in Peikko Italy, who designed more than 13 tons of plates. “Optimization of the plates was especially challenging. Extra-long plates were subdivided into shorter parts in order to find the most convenient size combination, easing transportation and installation at the site.”
Many of the delivered plates were acid-proof, a crucial requirement in the aggressive paper mill environment. Their flexibility in thickness, shape, length, and size enabled seamless integration into shallow structures while avoiding clashes with reinforcement. All WELDA® Anchor Plates used are ETA assessed and carry an EPD, aligning with the customer’s focus on safety, reliability, and sustainability.

Behind the scenes, Peikko Finland’s production and logistics teams ensured timely deliveries for every phase of the project. “We could not have been successful if we hadn’t had an excellent backline. On-time delivery is another crucial aspect in projects with a tight schedule,” agree Elena and Leonardo.
The Lucca expansion is a perfect example of how technically sound products and efficient teamwork can make a difference in challenging projects.
