EBEA® Balcony Connector — Load-bearing Thermal Break

EBEA® Balcony Connector is a load-bearing insulated connection element for concrete structures that minimizes thermal bridges in cantilever balconies and other applications such as walls and slabs.

Preventing thermal bridges while keeping the structural integrity of cantilever balconies, walls and slabs can be a challenge. EBEA® Balcony Connector minimizes heat losses and prevents visual and structural defects in concrete structures. The EBEA® system is very versatile with many types to choose from. From the wide range of models, you can find an optimal solution for transferring all transverse forces, horizontal forces and moments reliably to the main slab.

The EBEA® system allows achieving a noise reduction of up to 21 dB thanks to special materials used and a fire protection classification of up to REI 120.

Simple installation together with versatile features make EBEA® Balcony Connector a cost-efficient and practical solution for load-bearing structures with high requirements for minimizing thermal bridges.

EBEA®-100

The EBEA®-100 Balcony Connectors are used to transfer negative moments (-MRd) and shear forces in two directions (±VRd) between two concrete slabs. The shear plate system gives the connection better stability compared to the solution with diagonal reinforcement (shear rebars). The product is available in three different reinforcement versions.

RS – friction-welded design for corrosion resistance class III (medium)
VE1 – stainless steel design for corrosion resistance class III (medium)
VE2 – stainless steel design for corrosion resistance class IV (strong)

(1) – Height of the thermal insulation is produced with 20 mm increment.
(2) – Length of connector is produced with 50 mm increments. The maximum length is 1200 mm.

(4) – The rebar length S determines the element size. The most important dimensions are shown in Table. In  addition, EBEA®-700 can be manufactured with individual dimensions. The following limits must be  considered: S11min (ISO60/100) = 110 mm; S11min (ISO80/120) = 100 mm; S11max (ISO60/80/100/120) = 430 mm.
