Peikko Group Global (English)

Health and safety

At Peikko, safety is a top priority across all of our units.

We are committed to continually improving the health and safety of our employees, as well as preventing accidents for our visitors and contractors while on Peikko premises. This includes safety measures during travel, loading goods, customer seminars and events, and construction site operations. Our goal is to excel in occupational health and safety performance and achieve an accident-free working environment.

We are proud to be an ISO 45001:2018 Multisite certified company, with all of our production units in Europe, China, and UAE certified by DNV. Our safety activities, accident investigations, and KPI's are regularly discussed in global safety meetings and reviewed at least twice a year by Group Management. Our safety manual defines our ambitious minimum requirements and Peikko way for safety improvements, regardless of country or culture.

Our ultimate aim is to create a working environment where every Peikko employee, subcontractor, or visitor on our premises can return home safely and in good health every day. We undertake daily initiatives for safety improvement, including safety walks and safety talks, and regularly conduct hazard risk assessments and process risk assessments.

Peikko also regularly organizes internal safety campaigns to raise awareness and promote safe practices. For example, in 2019, we focused on hand safety, while in 2020 and 2021, we addressed safe lifting practices. Our latest campaign, in 2022-2023, will focus on safe storage systems. By implementing these measures, we are confident that we can continue to maintain a safe and healthy work environment for everyone at Peikko.

Our commitment in safety is outlined in Peikko Group's Health and Safety Policy

Peikko places a strong emphasis on ensuring the safety of our products.

At Peikko, we understand the importance of product safety in construction processes. That's why our products are designed to make construction faster, safer, and more sustainable. We are committed to providing our customers with test results, certificates, and European and local approvals that demonstrate the safety of Peikko products.

To ensure the constancy of performance of our products, we have implemented a continuous quality control system across all of our manufacturing plants. This system guarantees that specific products have the same properties, regardless of the time and place of production.

By using Peikko products, solutions, and services, our customers can enhance safety, improve efficiency, and increase productivity in their operations. Even though Peikko operates globally, we make sure that our products comply with local regulations and are suitable for local practices. This way, our products are safe to use throughout their entire life cycle.

We take pride in our commitment to product safety and continuously strive to improve our processes and products to meet the highest safety standards.

Safety Performance

At Peikko, one of our primary safety key performance indicators (KPIs) is the Lost Time Injury Frequency (LTIF), which refers to the number of lost time injuries per million working hours. We are committed to continuously improving our safety performance and have set a goal to reduce our LTIF by 5% annually. This goal is also part of our Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reflecting our dedication to promoting safe and sustainable practices across all our operations.

The LTIF performance has improved by 29.7 % since 2020. (Improvement 2020-2021 was 25 %, and 2021-2022 it was 6.3 %)

Safety Action Frequency is a crucial leading indicator that measures how proactive our employees are in taking safety actions. At Peikko, we strongly believe that there is a clear correlation between the level of activity in our safety actions and the number of accidents and injuries that occur. By increasing the frequency of preventive safety activities and remaining proactive, we can effectively reduce the number of work-related accidents.

SAF has improved continuously and currently the cumulative result is already above 3000.

A smoke‑free workplace is in everyone’s best interest.

Peikko always acts as a responsible and respectful employer. Looking after the employees’ overall health and well‑being plays a crucial role in Peikko’s operations. Therefore, we also created a smoke‑free workplace. It reduces potential harm from passive smoking, provides an environment that encourages persons to be smoke‑free, and promotes a culture of wellness.
